Running to Win: How Awareness Becomes Your Spiritual Superpower

Spiritual warfare requires awareness, and in this illuminating episode of the Think Cute podcast, we unpack how seemingly small actions can open doors to the enemy's influence in our lives. Are you unconsciously inviting chaos through sins of commission? The time has come to recognize these entry points and reclaim your authority.

Drawing from Paul's powerful athletic imagery, we explore the Christian journey as a race requiring discipline, endurance, and purpose. "I beat my body and make it my slave," Paul writes, reminding us that spiritual growth demands the same intentional training as physical fitness. Though perfection remains out of reach, we press forward with determination, celebrating victories while confronting what needs transformation.

The heart of this teaching examines specific sins of commission that create vulnerability in our spiritual armor: lying (including those "just kidding" moments that mask hurtful truths), stealing (even small things), murder (including the spiritual assassination of someone's dreams), adultery, sexual immorality, witchcraft, and idolatry (placing anything—success, people, feelings—before God). By defining each clearly, we expose subtle ways these manifest in everyday life.

Perhaps most profound is the revelation that "we see from where our heart is." When our hearts harbor rejection, bitterness, or pain, we interpret everything through those wounded filters. Only the Holy Spirit can heal these distorted perspectives, allowing us to see others as God does. This transformation begins with honest self-examination and surrender.

This isn't a passive journey—"heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force." We must actively bring heaven to earth by binding our mind, body, spirit, and soul to Christ. Through awareness, spiritual discipline, and Holy Spirit transformation, we can shut doors to the enemy and embrace the abundant life God intended. Join me in this practice of becoming more Christ-like every day, celebrating progress while confronting what needs to change.

Welcome back to the Think Cute podcast, where thinking cute is a lifestyle Not being conformed to the world but being transformed by the renewing of your mind. Here we are disrupting toxic patterns and we are pushing back the gates of hell intentionally. We are being equipped and we are running the race and I am so excited that you're here to have this conversation with me today. As we continue our Sonship series and just as we talked last episode in unveiling the enemy's tactics and reclaiming your identity in Christ, we uncovered a handful of sins and I shared on my Instagram stories today about like where are we opening the door, willingly or unbeknownst to us? Like we're opening the door to the enemy and just saying, hey, come on in, torment me, wreck havoc on my life, cause division and do the things that you do to kill, steal and destroy me, versus being aware of his tactics and being aware of where we actually have authority to shut the door.

Speaker 0:

This is a pretty heavy topic. I would say it's a simple principle in the Bible, but it's very with the way the world is today. There's confusion and there is a lot of like I want to say it comes to me like this he said, she said kind of stuff, and so I just want to encourage you to continue to read your Bible and really dig in and find the scriptures that support everything that I share with you. It is a time of war. There is two kingdoms at play, and it is so important for us to recognize and become so aware and self-aware in how we are operating every day, and if we are unconscious to our patterns that are toxic, we need to take authority and become aware so we can disrupt toxic patterns. And that's what the mandate on my life has been in starting this podcast, in what I do with women and what God has done with me, in the revelation and the journey that he has taken me on the past 10 plus years of my life in pushing back the gates of hell personally. And so I bring to you today a call, a mandate, that says hey, once you know, you can't unknow. Once you know something, you can't unknow. Once you know something, you can't unknow what you know. And so if you don't do anything about it, that's not on anybody, but you, and you have the power to change your life. It's a choice and, like I said in the last episode or two, you get to choose. I get to choose what hard I experience. It's hard to sin. It's hard not to sin. It's like it's a narrow road that leads to life, but don't you want to be on it. It is a wide road to death. There's so many options for you in death, but it's a narrow road that leads to life.

Speaker 0:

And so here's the thing we opened up the can about what the Bible says about sin, and there's a handful of them. We talked briefly on a few of them in the last episode, but I want to go deeper. But I also want to bring to light what Paul says about becoming and pursuing and pressing on and, you know, running this race to looking like Christ. You know, because here's the thing we're talking about all the things that could be going wrong. We do want to also celebrate what is going right and what you're doing right. It's not always negative, negative, negative.

Speaker 0:

Okay, I want to remind you, as the Holy Spirit reminds me, of hey, we have to celebrate. We have to celebrate and we have to become aware of what's not working, and we have to go to work on that as well. But in the midst of going to work and disrupting toxic patterns, we also have to recognize, hey, what have I overcome? What toxic patterns am I no longer operating in? And like, celebrate, celebrate the mere fact that you become aware of a toxic pattern. You know what I'm saying. Like, so celebrate and also know that you are not perfect. I am not perfect. I share as a practice. This is what I'm practicing. And so in the practice, like a doctor goes to school to learn a thing, and then they open up a practice and they're practicing every time they do a surgery. It's why it's called a practice, a doctor's practice, a coaching practice, a therapy practice, because we're practicing, Everybody's practicing. Nobody is perfect. You know who's perfect? Jesus, and guess what? We're called to look like Jesus here on earth. We're called to bring heaven to earth. Are we aware of the practice of that right? And so let's practice today. Let's continue practicing, let's continue, and I want to encourage you with run, with purpose, and Paul talks about within 1 Corinthians, 9, 24 to 27,.

Speaker 0:

Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? So run in such a way as to get the prize. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. I beat my body and make it my slave, beat it into submission lest, after preaching to others, I myself should be disqualified. You're in a race to win. It is a race, it's your race. It's your race. There's nobody else in this race but you. So that means that you don't compare, you don't look left to right. You run the race that God has given you. You know the vision and you run after it. You have self-control, like an athlete. You train, you practice and you avoid disqualification.

Speaker 0:

It's a warning, not about losing salvation, but about failing to live up to God's calling. Are you aware? We have to become aware, my girl, this is the call, the upward call, not yet perfect, we're pressing in, we're pressing on. Philippians 3, 12 through 14, paul talks about this and he admits not that I have already obtained or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own. I press on forward toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. So here we are, we recognize it. Let's just be human. Like, let's embrace our humanity and know that we're not perfect yet, okay. Like it ain't gonna happen. When Jesus comes and we have practiced long enough when he comes, we pray that we have the oil to get us in. You know what I'm saying. Let's be intentional every day to practice.

Speaker 0:

We're not going to be perfect and we acknowledge that, but we press on, we focus on continual growth that matures us. We are becoming mature Christians, emotionally intelligent us. We are becoming mature Christians, emotionally intelligent, being like Christ. We have an endurance mindset. We have an endurance mindset. We're not perfect, we're pressing on, we're present in and we have an endurance mindset. That means that we maintain humility and we remain teachable in our spiritual maturity. Paul, when he says this, it's like he maintains humility and he teaches the readers, us, to remain teachable in our spiritual maturity. And so what do we do? We also learn something and it, you know, it's a good idea to go teach somebody what we learn, if it's a good thing. You know what I'm saying. Let Paul be.

Speaker 0:

I, like if I was to hang out with anybody, I want to hang out with Paul, like he is so real for this, he is so real to know and to just come on, fight the good fight. Just be like, be humble, be human, it's fine. You're not perfect. Like don't beat yourself up, okay, it's going to be okay. You're amazing because you're practicing to be like Christ. And so we recognize it.

Speaker 0:

Remember he says in 2 Timothy 4, 7, he says I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Can we say that up until this point, have you fought the good fight? Have you finished the race? Up until this season, have you kept the faith? Now I recognize, and so does Paul. It's not easy. He's like, oh my gosh, my flesh wants to do this and I continue to do this. But I really want to do this.

Speaker 0:

The Bible says the spirit is willing, but the flesh isn't. We've got to shut the flesh up. Okay, we have to shut the flesh up. And so let's talk about how we can shut the flesh up and dig into the first layer of what I shared in the last one, of what you do, sins of commission.

Speaker 0:

So the introduction is just that we have to recognize we're not perfect, but we also have to recognize that there's two kingdoms in play and we have to take heaven by force. Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. Are you passively standing by while hell breaks loose in your life or are you bringing heaven to earth forcefully and taking your freedom, taking what God says is yours my mind, my body, my spirit, my soul. I bind it to Christ. I submit my body, spirit and soul to heaven that I would be in such alignment that I would bring heaven to earth, and I would hear what God says. I would hear what heaven has to say about every situation that I would be so acutely aware, and I would hear the Holy Spirit whisper when he says turn left, turn right. Don't do that. Stop, go back, take three steps back, speak right now. Are we, are we in tune? Are we, are we? Are we we gotta? We gotta put our boxing gloves on.

Speaker 0:

And this is something that I'm like oh my gosh, girl, you better get in the gym, because this is something that we can physically, if we like, build our body. Like Paul said, I beat my body into submission like an athlete. This has always stuck out to me and this is the one thing that has been eluding me. Eluding me for so long is like getting in the gym because I've had a wrong mindset. We have to change our mindset about things, and so, like I want to get in the gym, I want to be strong for Jesus, like I want to beat my body into such submission and today I'm going to go into the gym and I'm going to take my words right now. I'm going to put it into action and I'm going to beat my body into submission. I'm going to build my muscles, that, because my body, I can see my muscles that I can like spiritually, see that my spirit is getting stronger in the word and as I step out and do a thing physically, like we have to take action physically in order to see things shift right.

Speaker 0:

And so what are we doing? That we have to be confronting to the things that are holding us back. We have to confront it is a good thing to confront what has been holding us back. So, with all that being said, girl, I'm speaking to myself out loud in my conviction of building my body strong. Okay, so what can you do? Go work out. Go work out. It's going to help your mind, body and soul and spirit. Here are some things that you can do. Sins of commission these are things you do that are against God's will. Deliberate disobedience we want to be aware of immediate obedience, not deliberate disobedience. So, lying in Proverbs 6, 16 through 17,.

Speaker 0:

Lying oh, it was just a white lie, oh, it was just, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. We have to be aware of what lying is. So break it down. What does lying mean? Lying means an intentionally false statement. Lying, it's an intentional false statement. You can't just say you're kidding. If you want to tell the truth, tell the truth, because the truth will set you free. If you don't like someone's hair, maybe you shouldn't say it Like it's none of your business. If you like, that's an opinion. Maybe sometimes you should keep your opinion to yourself instead of saying, oh, your hair is so ratchet, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, you're lying. You actually meant to say that you actually like. You're hurting people's feelings and you are saying, oh, I'm just kidding, you're lying. Where's your heart? What's your heart? Posture around things that you're saying. So be intentional with your words and only say what is true. Only say what is true, because you know one lie leads to another, that leads to another. That is a spider web of deceit.

Speaker 0:

Next is stealing. Exodus 2015 talks about this. Stealing I'll look it up and give you the definition is to take another person's property without permission or legal right and without intending to return it. So when you know the definition of a thing, you can understand it and you can apply it better. So stealing is taking something that's not yours with intention of not returning it and you didn't have permission. So little things. It's a piece of gum, it's 50 cents that you found on the counter. That was not yours but you know, it's potentially your parents. Or, like I'm talking to kids, I'm a mom. It's little things. It's little things. It's the little foxes that we have to pay attention to that really truly make a mess.

Speaker 0:

Next is murder. Now, these are things, sins of commission things, what you do, murder, the unlawful, premeditated killing of one human being by another. You know, I would even like to say the murder spiritually, spiritually murdering somebody. It's on your hands. When you intentionally kill something, maybe it's a dream of somebody's.

Speaker 0:

Next is adultery, exodus 20, 14. Adultery definition by definition voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse. Unfaithful, infidelity, falseness, disloyalty. So if you are in a relationship, a marriage relationship, do not commit adultery, sexual immorality. So sex is a holy covenant gift. It's meant to be between one man and one woman, in the context of marriage only. This is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife and they become one flesh. So anything outside of God's design for sex is, in fact, sexual immorality. And then, moving on to the next item on the list of sins, of commission things that we do, of commission things that we do witchcraft and idolatry. Galatians 5, 19 through 21. I highly recommend that you go in. Oh, sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6, 18 talks about that. So I highly recommend you going to look up these scriptures for yourself to get a further understanding. I am simply just sharing what the sins of commission are so that you will know.

Speaker 0:

Witchcraft and idolatry. The biblical definition of witchcraft is the use of magic spells, potion or enchantments, the manipulation of spiritual power apart from God, trying to control outcomes or people through spiritual means other than the Holy Spirit. The acts of flesh are obvious sexual immorality, idolatry and witchcraft. Those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5, 19-21 speaks of this Also.

Speaker 0:

Idolatry it's the worship or devotion service to anything other than God. You shall have no other gods before me, says the Lord in Exodus 20, verse 3. So, anything other than God? What do you put people, money, success yourself, your feelings, addictions before God? That's idolatry. That is idolatry. It says in Romans 1.25,. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshipped and served created things rather than the creator. This is like a fine, fine line. So really, really pay attention, be led by the spirit on this, like Father, god, show me where I could be operating in any of these sins of commission. What am I doing that is out of alignment with you, god? In Galatians 5, 19, 20.

Speaker 0:

Now, the works of the flesh are evident sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery.

Speaker 0:

In Galatians 5, 19 through 20, it talks about that. That is all I wanted to share with you today. What you do opens the door to the enemy in lying, stealing, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, witchcraft and idolatry. We have to be so aware, spiritually and physically. Spiritually, where are we committing adultery, murder? Where are we stealing, lying? If we are aware, awareness is your superpower, awareness is your superpower, and so, if you can become aware of the things that you do and if you are willingly in sin, of commission these things, let's turn, let's break agreement, let's ask for forgiveness, forgive ourself for coming in and doing these things, and simply turn away from the evil deeds and shut the flesh up and chase after God. Run the race to become more like Jesus every day.

Speaker 0:

Practice, beat your body into submission. Know the word of God that you will live a long and healthy, powerful life. Like I said before in the last episode, my people perish for lack of knowledge. God said you will perish because you did not know. So it is our job to educate, doctrinate ourself in heavenly word in the biblical sense. Like, yes, it's great to read books, awesome, but the best and only book that you really need is the Bible. Anything outside of that is extra. I love books, I have a lot of them. I'm obsessed with learning, but the best is the Bible and biblical books are great, but go to the Bible, read these scriptures and really, really rip them apart.

Speaker 0:

Get an understanding, get a rhema word, get a word from heaven, get straight from God, get revelation and telling you you, like the Holy Spirit will convict your heart in these areas when you are honest and you bring it to heaven or you bring it to the foot of the cross. Bring heaven to earth in this moment and say God, holy Spirit, jesus, search me and know me and know any evil way that is within me, god, and show it to me. Help me, father, be more like you, help me love, help my heart to be compassion filled and that I would see with your eyes that I would not see from my pain, heal my heart of any pain, because I tell you what, my girlfriend, we see from where our heart is. And so if we have a heart of pride, pain, unforgiveness, bitterness, rejection, we're going to see those things everywhere and we're going to accuse and we're going to assume and we're going to see it in people. When somebody says something that they really meant, as in a loving posture, you're going to take it as rejection and that's that is because of the eyes, the heart like. Where your heart is, there you are and there you will see with those eyes of rejection. So let's ask the Holy Spirit to come in and only only Holy Spirit can break the trauma and all of those things that cause the unforgiveness and the pain from what somebody did to you. God, search our hearts and know our hearts, father, that you would restore us in Jesus' name, restore us, transform us, god, to your daughters that are so loved, that are so carried, that are so accepted and so protected by you. Father. God, I thank you for your word and I pray that as we dig into what sin is and really get into this. This is just the first layer and we're gonna continue this.

Speaker 0:

Also, stay tuned for letters from God. I'm going to show I'm gonna throw in some bonus episodes in between these episodes. Because of our series of sonship, we are after the Father's heart. We are after to know who God is. He is a loving, yet powerful, mighty protector, and we want to know Him, and so I'm going to throw in some letters from God from this amazing book that I have. Every day there's a letter from Him, so I could throw in a few letters in between every episode. So stay tuned for those letters from God, as they are so encouraging and uplifting.

Speaker 0:

I pray that this has been encouraging to you. I pray that you have opened your eyes, have been opened to something new today, that you would be transformed in the mighty name of Jesus and that Holy Spirit would do what only he can do in Jesus' name. I love you. I will see you in the next one. Share this with a girlfriend. If this was encouraging to you and you think she could use the information in this episode, share it. Share it with somebody.
